So, got home from work...went to my brother's so he could pick up some stuff 'cause he's still blacked out, then dropped him and mom at home, then me and dad went to the grocery store so I could get stuff to cook dinner -- I swear, they were the fastest tacos and burritos ever!!! Even when I've gotta be somewhere at a certain time, I still have to make dinner for everybody else! ARGH!!! I mean, honestly, I don't mind it, and I've willingly taken on the responsibility of being the main dinner maker of the household [breakfast and lunch as well on weekends and days off work] ...parents are getting older, and it's really no bother and I enjoy doing it most of the time; I just sometimes get frustrated when I've got 15 minutes to fix a 30 minute meal...hence the mild vent!
So, after cooking, assembling and serving everybody else, and packing a burrito each for me and dad, we rushed out to get me to symphony chorus. I got there just in time! I'm amazed I wasn't late! We sang through a few pieces we'd done in years past -- awesome stuff, including Rutter's Gloria, which is one of my favourite choral works ever!!! Then we got the news. The Columbus Symphony still hasn't come to an agreement.
[For new flisters who haven't read my occasional posts referencing the situation, the Columbus (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra is on the verge of folding. Musicians and management can't seem to come to a funding agreement that both parties will accept. We are in danger of losing one of the most vital and important arts organizations in the city. This is very bad news...not only because I sing in their chorus, though that is why it affects me directly.]
The positive spin is that they're still in talks. The first part of the season is already cancelled, but we'll find out by September 30 whether or not the annual Holiday Pops concert will take place. If so, rehearsals will resume in October, if not, another chance comes in November, when we find out whether it's possible to reschedule the concert originally planned for October. If it's still not resolved, there's another chance in January to have some sort of a Spring schedule. If the symphony folds, however, there's still hope for the chorus, because our director believes we're too good to just fade away. He'll arrange for a concert of our own somehow, either with some form of orchestra or perhaps two pianos and/or a cappella pieces. There are options, but my hope is that the symphony will resolve the situation in time to make a comeback for the holidays. So, I'm waiting with bated breath, and a lot of hoping and praying, to hear our status. I'm hoping for rehearsals IN OCTOBER!!!!!!! Keep the faith! *argh*
Onto more pleasant stuff! I got home in time to see the winner of US Big Brother 10 -- DAN WINS!!!!
Not only did Dan win, but the vote was unanimous! The jury recognized that Dan's game was the smartest ever! And it was! He played them all against each other, and ended up smelling like a rose! Congratulations to him! Cheers to Memphis too, for his runner-up status! The only thing that didn't go my way was that Keesha got the most popular juror prize money, because I wanted Jerry to win [he was second place], with Renny as my second choice -- but Keesha was my third choice, so it was cool! Cheers to Keesha too then...
After that, I've just been messing about here online, listening to The Proclaimers on youtube and on my facebook playlist. As soon as I can, I am so buying some of their CDs!
And so, to bed soon...unfortunately there's work tomorrow. *bleah*
